Zechariah 2:10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.
11 And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
12 And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.
13 Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.
The scene is that of the Millennium. The daughter is Israel. Israel will bow before the true God and they will acknowledge the Lord Jesus Christ as the One Whom they had slain and they will repent and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Messiah and King. The LORD will dwell in the midst of them. Jesus Christ will be the King during the Millennium. Only saved individuals will enter the Millennium. There will be rejoicing as Israel is finally freed from the many years of trouble they have faced due to their rebellious nature.
In verse 11 we see that many nations will be joined to the LORD in that day. As we already mentioned, only saved people will enter the Millennium. Thus there can be singing and rejoicing at that time. We see here that all those who enter that time will be “my people”. They will be God’s people. Jesus Christ will dwell in the midst of all those who enter that time.
That will be in contrast to what we see now and what will be reality in the Tribulation. The hatred for God and the Lord Jesus Christ has been a constant since the fall of man. Jesus Christ reminded His disciples and all saints that the world hated Him and it would hate His true followers as well. The Jews cried out “crucify Him, crucify Him”. They wanted Him dead and gone. They could not win then and they will not want Him dead at the end of the Tribulation.
It will be crystal clear that God the Father, the LORD of hosts, has sent Jesus Christ to dwell among the people. The Jews rejected the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ in His first coming. They called Him a blasphemer. They even accused Him of working under the power of Beelzebub. That will all finally change. Sadly, the Jews will have suffered for thousands of years before they finally bow the knee to Him.
As we have noted before, God chose Israel to be His special people. He wanted to shine through them so that all nations will be jealous and want to turn to the true God. Israel failed to appreciate the blessed place they could have had. They chose to degrade themselves and adopt the paganism that was around them. They made a very foolish choice. All Jews are born as lost sinners, just like all Gentiles. Except a man be born again he cannot see nor enter into the kingdom of God.
In verse 12 we see that the LORD shall inherit Judah. Judah was the tribe through which the Messiah would come. Judah would hold the sceptre. The Lord Jesus Christ came from the tribe of Judah, in His incarnation.
Jerusalem was the city of David, but more importantly it was the city of God. The Temple was there because God chose that place as His dwelling place. Notice it says He would choose Jerusalem again. Today Jerusalem is not a God-honouring place. It is a place that has a form of religion, but they do not know the true God. That will finally change in the Millennium.
In verse 13 we see that all flesh needs to be silent before the LORD. That is in reference to the wicked. The antichrist and his followers will be slaughtered at the battle of Armageddon. The heathen will not enter the Millennium. The antichrist and the false prophet will be immediately cast into the lake of fire and the rest of the wicked will be cast into hell. There will be people born in the Millennium and they will be born as lost sinners just like now. Thus there will be ungodly people living in the Millennium. They will not have any opportunity to rise up against the Lord. However, they will look for a way to defeat Him. They will be given that final opportunity at the end of the Millennium when Satan is loosed from the bottomless pit. That will be the final rebellion of man against God. Satan will be cast into the lake of fire, and the wicked will be cast into hell. The great white throne judgment will be set up and all the lost will stand before the Lord Jesus Christ and will be judged according to their works. No man is saved by works, but all the wicked will be condemned by their works.
It is important to take the opportunity that God has afforded us today to be sure we know the Lord. Life is too short to treat it like a stage with many actors. It is true that there are many actors today. They will regret that when they die. God shows us that He is real and He is holy. It is important to know Him now and serve Him faithfully. If you are one who does not know the Lord, you can humble yourself today in repentance toward God and put your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as your own personal Saviour. Don’t put it off any longer. Trust in the true God today and know His peace and blessing in your heart.
