Deuteronomy 32:13 He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock;
14 Butter of kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat; and thou didst drink the pure blood of the grape.
15 But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.
16 They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger.
17 They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.
18 Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.
God blessed Israel as no other nation. Israel had the privilege of being on top of the world. Nations like to be up there. The U.S. likes to brag that they are the best nation in the world. That is not true, yet too many Americans believe that lie. The U.S. is on the verge of collapse. They are heavily in debt and they are morally broke. The immorality that runs rampant in that nation is its downfall. Canada is right behind them.
It is good to take pride in your nation if there is something to take pride in. Sadly there is nothing to take pride in our country.
We have a pack of liars in Parliament, who are scamming us out of hard earned taxpayer money. They are currently on the verge of passing Bill C9 which will make it a crime to read certain portions of the Bible. The government is suggesting that is not the case, but one of their ministers publicly named certain portions of the Bible as hate speech. He claims to be a Christian and yet he has the audacity to claim that God is a promoter of hatred. He is a wicked man. There are opposition parties that are speaking out against Bill C9 but they are using an ecumenical argument to do so. Islam is a wicked ideology that is designed to destroy the world. They can spout their wickedness, but they are not of equal value to true Christianity. Catholicism is involved in supporting Islam and is no better than they are.
Israel was made to ride high above the earth. They were made to increase in the earth. They were able to feed themselves and export the excess. They could suck honey out of the rock. Imagine that. When is the last time you picked up a rock and got honey out of it. God did the impossible with Israel. He proved He is God and He blessed them abundantly.
Verse 14 continued the blessings of the Lord on Israel. They were the envy of other nations. Yet they did not recognize where their blessings came from. They wanted to dabble in wickedness.
Verse 15 tells us that when they were doing well, they got fat and they kicked at the source of the fatness. They wanted more, but they did not want to submit to the righteous law of God. They forsook God and lightly esteemed the Rock of their salvation.
This was written prior to the nation entering the promised land. God was speaking prophetically here. God knew there was a problem then already. He would not abandon the nation, but He would certainly need to punish them. They rode high in the days of king David and the early days of king Solomon. After that things started to fail. The nation was split in two after the death of Solomon. The north never had a good king. The south had some better kings but few were solely committed to serving the Lord. Eventually both the north and the south were invaded by foreign nations.
God sent the Babylonians into Jerusalem to destroy the Temple and take the gold and silver and take captives and kill others.
Verse 16 tells us all about it. They provoked God to jealousy. He made them to honour Him. He made them to shine as His people in a wicked world. He made them to show the world that the only way of blessing was to know the true God. Yet the nations around her did not see that. They assumed their gods were better than the God of Israel.
Verse 17 tells us they sacrificed to devils. They certainly did that. They did not know the pagan gods they sold themselves to. They had blinders on and could not see the depravity of the nations who served those pagan gods.
In verse 18 God again reminded them of the Rock that begat them. Israel lost sight of that fact. As we see here God is speaking prophetically of what was ahead for Israel. God was not forcing them into corruption. He could see their hearts. He was warning them that if they did not turn back to Him, this is what was ahead for them.
The same is true for us today. God can see our hearts. He knows the wickedness that is in our hearts when they are not surrendered to Him. Look at Canada. Look at the murder of unborn children. No one in government is willing to stop that. Look at the sodomite agenda that is being promoted in the public school system. Taxpayer dollars are being used to brainwash children and then doctors and nurses are being paid to mutilate young children and nobody is stopping it. We do not use violence as some are trying. Governments are supposed to uphold laws. Instead they do not know what to do because they have rejected God. When you do not have a right foundation, you have nothing.
We call it hate speech to warn sodomites that they are going to hell. We call it hate speech to warn them that God hates their wicked lifestyle. We set up barriers around clinics where mothers go to have their babies murdered. The government passes laws to keep the truth away from those mothers. We do not want people to feel bad about their sin. Instead, we murder innocent children.
Hell will have many ungodly mothers who will have all of eternity to remember that child they murdered. Doctors and nurses will be there remembering the children they ripped out of mothers’ wombs and slaughtered. Politicians will be there recalling how they passed legislation to protect murder and keep the truth away from people.
God was warning Israel of what was ahead for them unless they would repent. God always offers man a way out. That way is to turn to Him. It is not through compromise or through avoiding Him. The many corrupt religions today that are so hardened that they can read from their perversions and they are not convicted by what they read. That alone shows us the perversions have no power. They are not the Word of God. They are man’s perversions of what God says. There are even people who use the King James Version who have hardened themselves against the truth. They have a seared conscience. God warns us that the heart of man is deceitful above all else.
Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
Read those verses in a perversion and you get a much softer and pleasant read. It soothes the guilty conscience, rather than bring conviction and judgment. You cannot win by rejecting God. God is at work. He wants people to be saved. Don’t fight against the truth. Surrender to God and know His forgiveness and peace. He wants to bless, but He does not throw His pearls to the swine.
