Proverbs 12:18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.
19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
20 Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
Yesterday there was a near catastrophe averted due to some passengers on an airliner in the Middle East. The plane was flying to Israel when the co-pilot stabbed the pilot and put the plane into a steep dive. There have been many varying reports on this event. The Israeli government called it a terrorist attack early on. Now there are other media that are questioning that classification. It is quite normal today that people want to hide their heads in the sand rather than face reality. This is particularly true when it comes to Israel and Muslims.
A question worth asking is: ‘why did that co-pilot have a knife on him?’ He knew what he was planning, but how come security was so lax as to allow him to board that plane with a knife. There is also the question of the nationality of the co-pilot. We know the pilot was from India, and the co-pilot was an Omani pilot. Apparently he is a Muslim.
What is important in all situations is truth. When news outlets and others try to change the narrative it does not help.
In our text God is speaking of Truth. The lost person speaks with the piercings of a sword. The lost like to attack and create fear. Our P.M. did that just this week. A major steel company is laying off at least 350 workers due to Mr. Carney’s foolishness. Mr. Carney is trying to blame this on president Trump. He is also threatening to go after the steel company over the layoffs. He claims that the government had offered money to the company to avoid the layoff. The company is not the government. The government runs up massive deficits and does not care. A company has to pay its bills. The government would love to take over industry in Canada. They may eventually do that. That will be a further disaster.
The wise person uses his tongue for the good. It is a blessing when we are told the truth. It is important to give people realistic opportunities of hope, not lies and threats.
In verse 19 we see that the lip of truth shall be established for ever. God’s Word is established for ever. The true prophets of the Old Testament and the apostles of the New Testament wrote down what God told them to. We can still read that today. Governments have tried to destroy God’s Word but they never will.
The lying tongue is but for a moment. Mr. Trudeau lied his way through ten years of government. He lied about the wuhan virus and then about the shots. He lied about financial matters that he was in charge of. Where is he now? He is running around with a deluded woman who does not know how to live. He may rise up to some position in the future, but regardless, his words are not going to be what anyone will use to build a right foundation. He has nothing to offer. He is one of thousands whose words are not worth the media attention they have been given.
The deceptive person imagines evil. That is what our P.M. is doing. He has a plan. He knows what he is doing. He cannot get the results he wants as quick as he would like, but he has an agenda. He has goons around him who are willing to support him. They like their pay-checks and their power. They are no different than Hitler and his gang. He advanced with a plan. He deceived people into thinking he cared for them. When he was far enough along with his plan, he showed who he truly was.
The antichrist will do the same. He will be the ultimate human deceiver of humanity. He too will have a plan but God will interfere with his plan and make life miserable for him. He too will have many followers at the start. Some of them will wake up and some of them will get saved. Many will take his mark and will perish as a result of that.
The counsellors of peace have joy. Daniel had joy in being able to interpret Nebuchadnezzar’s dreams. He was concerned about the one with the tree that was cut off, but he knew he was doing the will of God. He gave the king opportunity to repent and change course. He later would counsel king Darius as well. He spent a night in the lion’s den, but no harm came to him. Those that wanted him dead ended up as lion’s food the next day. Daniel continued to live and serve the Lord. He had the joy of knowing he was doing the will of God.
It is always wise to serve God.
