Hebrews 2:5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.
6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:
8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.
God asks us an important question in this passage. The answer is that without salvation through Jesus Christ, man is nothing. Jesus Christ became man to provide salvation that man must have, and cannot provide for himself.
It is obvious that God wants us to understand the importance of knowing Who Jesus Christ is. It is important for us to know that Jesus Christ is better than the angels. If Jesus Christ were not greater than the angels He could not be our Saviour. The Saviour must be without sin in order to take away our sin. No human being is without sin. We know from the Bible that the angels are capable of sinning. Many of them did sin. However God cannot sin and Jesus Christ is God. We can be set free from the bondage of sin through the new birth. What kind of salvation is it that claims to save you and leaves you in your sin?
It would be like the “vaccine” that they promised would be THE thing that would end the virus. Mr. Trudeau stated that early on in the plot they had enacted. I understand Israel is now working on the fifth shot and they are not winning. They have restricted travel from several countries. What kind of a “vaccine” is it if it cannot give us freedom from the virus? Those who use their God-given ability to think, know that man cannot develop a cure for anything. Many have their hope in man because they refuse to place their trust and hope in God. In spite of what some false teachers claim, God does not promise to keep His children from getting sick. He does promise to forgive their sin and give them a home in heaven, where there is no sin nor sickness. Jesus Christ is the Only Saviour. He alone can provide the forgiveness of sin we need and the new nature that will awaken us to identify sin and to seek His strength to overcome the temptation to sin.
As we see in verse 5, in the world to come, all things are put in subjection to the Lord Jesus Christ. We know that in the Millennium the Lord Jesus Christ will be recognized as the King. The Jews rejected Him as King and Messiah while He was on earth at His first coming. However, He will be the ruler for the 1,000 year Millennium. He will also be worshipped by all saints during the Millennium.
We know that in Heaven, there is no sin. No lost sinner can enter Heaven. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. No man can come to the Father but by Him. He is the One that a person must know as Saviour and submit to Him as Lord after salvation.
In verse 6 we see reference being made to Psalm 8:4-6. We know this Psalm is in reference to the Lord Jesus Christ because Jesus quoted from this Psalm in Matthew 21:16. Jesus Christ willingly lowered Himself below that of angels in that He left Heaven’s glory and came to this earth as a babe and grew into a man obedient unto death on the cross. God directed the writer of verse 6 to point to someone in a certain place who wrote of this. The one in this text is David who was directed by God to write Psalm 8. As mentioned, the words written refer to Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ became a man so that He could go to the cross for sinful men and make the way for man to be forgiven and saved. God visited man in the form of His Son, Jesus Christ. Simeon and Anna were excited about this fact. Sadly, most of the Jews never recognized the significance of having the Messiah who was promised in Genesis 3:15 and many other places in the Old Testament. The Jews missed out on so much.
Jesus Christ was made a little lower than the angels for a time, but He was also crowned with glory and honour. Jesus Christ was exalted to be the One Who is over all.
We see in verse 8 that all things are put in subjection to Him. All things are under His authority. That includes the angels as well. Jesus Christ is not a ruthless ruler like man so often is. Jesus Christ has every right to demand worship and loyalty. He is the provider of every good gift. He provides salvation for all those who turn to God in repentance. He provides a peace that passeth all understanding. He is wonderful and He is the Counsellor. It would be good for people to recognize these facts. We have many counsellors, but they do not know how to give good counsel. Nebuchadnezzar had his counsellors as well, but they were of no help to him. Even prior to that, in the time of Jeremiah, Hananiah, a false prophet, was of no value to king Zedekiah. He was a false prophet who spoke against the words of Jeremiah. God showed him and the king that this man was not worth listening to.
However, Jesus Christ has been exalted on high and no earthly ruler is greater than He is.
As we read here, all things are in subjection under His feet. God continued to point out the obvious. If all things are put under His feet, then there is nothing that is not put under His feet. That should be obvious and yet many people do not make that connection. The nation of Israel does not make that connection at this point. They are wandering in darkness even though they could know better. Many others are also wandering in darkness, while the Light is available to them.
God also acknowledges that we do not see everything under Jesus’ feet today.
II Corinthians 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
As we see here, there is a god of this world at present. He is not God. He is a small “g” god. This “god” is the devil. He has been given some power at this time. However, he is not greater than Jesus Christ. He is limited in what he can do. Many people do not see this. Some even deliberately worship the devil. However, for the child of God we can know that there is a limit to what ungodly people can do. This is encouraging even now as we watch our governments continue to use different “variants” in their efforts to scare people into submission to completely foolish and unnecessary mandates. Many people cannot wait for the next order coming from our ungodly governments. They are happy to comply because they hope this will be their life saver.
The governments have been able to impose restrictions to a much greater degree than they ought to. They have been able to do this because ungodly people have no anchor. They cannot think straight and they cannot see the deception of what is going on. The day is coming when the anti-christ will have greater power than any earthly leader has ever had. Even the anti-christ will be limited in his wicked plans by the Lord Jesus Christ. As we look at our time now, the governments are limited in what they can impose upon us. We do not need to give in to their wicked plans. However, unless we know the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, we will fall for the pressures the world puts on us.
It is important to know the Lord Jesus Christ. He is greater than the angels. He has been exalted in glory and He needs to be Lord and King in every true child of God’s life now. We do not need to wait until we get to glory to bow before Him and follow Him. We can be blessed now with the joy of His salvation and we can serve Him faithfully. He will bless those who choose to follow Him faithfully. We need to know the Prince of Peace today and enjoy His blessings.
