Proverbs 10:4 He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
6 Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
The slack hand is the careless and lazy hand. There are far too many people in Canada that have chosen welfare and homelessness. The governments of this country are acting in a completely ignorant manner when it comes to this problem.
Some people may think I am sounding like a broken record, however, God tells us throughout the Bible that those who reject Him cannot expect to know His blessings. They will make extremely foolish decisions. Jesus stated that there will always be poor people. We will never eradicate poverty. However, we could have much less abuse of taxpayer dollars if we would walk in the fear of the LORD.
II Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
Talking only has so much effect. There needs to be some power behind the words spoken. God’s Word is powerful. He tells us that the lazy person needs to go hungry. Most people will look for some type of employment when they get hungry. The beggars who walk the boulevards with their signs, trying to suggest they are just looking for a little help, need to throw their signs away and go and get a job. If they can walk the boulevards, they can go and work. The many who give money to those people are enablers. They are not helping those people. They are encouraging laziness. The answer for both groups is repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
By contrast the diligent person will prosper. That is the case in a just society. Hard work is not always honoured. Unions are a poison to any society. Hard work is not honoured in a union shop. Again, our governments have passed legislation that protects unions and punishes employers. No one needs a union to get ahead. All it takes is someone who is willing to show up to work on time and put in an honest days work in a consistent manner. Any good boss will recognize the value of such an employee and will want to keep them around.
In verse 5 we are reminded that there is a season for work. The illustration is that of a farmer. The farmer needs to take off the harvest in the summer. You don’t wait until the snow flies and then waste time and money trying to battle against cold weather and snow. The wise son understands the importance of working hard in the proper season. The foolish son sleeps during the season of work, and then wonders why he has little or nothing. He brings shame upon himself. Again, the careless person needs to be allowed to be ashamed, instead of patting him on the back for his scheming.
Verse 6 reminds us that the just person will be blessed. God sees all. He sees the just person. The unions use the lie that employers were mean and greedy and workers were not paid properly and the unions were necessary to level the playing field. If it is true that a boss is unjust, you do not have to work for him. If he cannot find workers he will either smarten up or go broke.
Saved people are the just people. They have a completely different outlook on life than the lost person. Saved people understand they are not just working for a human boss and they are not just in it to make money. They want to glorify God with their attitude and their actions.
The wicked person speaks violence. Our P.M. has encouraged violence. He and his goons are seeking to divide different sectors of our society so that they can come in and conquer all. Our former P.M. was good at this as well. He promoted the wuhan virus debacle and some decent citizens of the country said enough is enough and they protested against the injustices the government was enacting. The opposition parties were doing nothing to hold the ruling party accountable so a large number of citizens took to the streets to remind the government that they need to be answerable to the people. We are not slaves of the state. We are taxpayers who deserve respect from the government.
The government refused to listen to reason and instead arrested some and fined others. They froze bank accounts and put people in prison. They tried to paint those who could see the real problem as evil people and they tried to get the rest of society on their side. They encouraged people to become snitches who would report their neighbours and others if they were not towing the party line.
The biggest downfall of that time was from the local churches. True churches are built upon the foundation of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Word of God. True churches did not need to panic like the lost did. Yet that is what happened. Most churches fell in line with the lies of the state. They had no voice because they had sold themselves out to the state when they chose to be registered with the state. True churches do not belong to the state. They belong to God and the state needs to be reminded of that fact. True churches do not encourage violence. When we look at the book of Acts we see saints who refused to be silenced by wicked rulers. Several of the apostles were beaten and they spent time in prison because the would not be silent about the most important need of man.
Since most of the citizens are ungodly, many fell for the lies of the government and to this day, the governments have escaped proper judgment. As mentioned, the saddest part of all this is that those who claim to know God fell in line with the lies being promoted by wicked leaders. God expects His children to walk by faith in Him.
God sees all. He will take care of the injustices in His time. It is important to know the true God and trust Him to protect you as you live in a wicked society. God did that for the true prophets in the Old Testament. He protected Daniel and his three friends even in a hostile foreign land. Daniel outlived Nebuchadnezzar and Belshazzar and into the reign of Cyrus, the Persian.
In the New Testament era, the apostles were protected even though they lived under the pagan Roman government and also hostile ungodly Jews. Yes, they faced persecution, however, they did not give up. They preached the truth. They saw people get saved and true churches were established. God looked after them.
God has done the same in every generation. Those who know Him and honour Him have been blessed. Those who reject Him have all died and gone to hell. The saved have also died, but they went to heaven. Eternity is a long time. The wise person trusts in God and lives within the realm of His blessings.
