Jeremiah 5:30 A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;
31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?
Today’s devotional will be more heavily focused on current events. The Bible is God’s Word. It is a living book in the sense that it speaks to every generation. It is not a living book in the sense that it is an ever changing book. The perversions have been changing the word of God with every new perversion that hits the market. There are many people making money off of corrupt versions of the Word of God. It is never a good idea to try to scam God. It will always be a failure.
Canada is currently in a very interesting place. There has been a need for clarified terms of trade between Canada and the U.S.
The U.S. has long term grievances regarding their relationship with Canada. It should be clear that the U.S. is the “big brother” in this situation. The big brother has carried an unfair amount of the load for a long time. In any family, parents carry the load for their family until the children grow up and are capable of providing for themselves. We have a problem in Canada now of too many adult children not willing to carry their own load. It is not wrong for an unmarried son or daughter living in their parents’ home as long as they are paying their share of the costs. There comes a time when a child needs to understand the cost of living and they need to learn how to act responsibly because they have to pay for what they want.
Canada has been a nation for over one hundred and fifty years. In all that time, it has depended on the U.S. to defend itself. We fought in both the first and second World War. We proved our ability to fight and to be willing to sacrifice lives and resources. Those are rare moments in the history of this country.
Not only that, we have a very foolhardy idea of dealing with illegal drugs. Rather than understand the depravity of man that lures him into a destructive nature, even toward illegal drugs, we say that we need to supervise the use of illegal drugs. What we are suggesting is the drugs are not illegal. The government wants to make money off of killing not just the drug users, but also the victims who get killed by the drug users.
Our P.M. and his negotiators are telling us that the U.S. did not negotiate in good faith on the recent tariff threats. This is coming from a man who has proven over the years that he does not know how to tell the truth. He was the head of the financial system in England just prior to weaselling his way into his current position. He ruined the financial system in England. Prior to that he was the head of the Canadian financial system. He failed there as well. Yet the media touts him as a great financial manager. He did not tell the truth on the recent opening of the Gordie Howe bridge. It was the U.S. that gave us the facts of what actually happened there. The media first tried to protect the P.M. in his deception. Then they fell silent.
Even the opposition parties are blindly believing what our P.M. says happened last week. The U.S. is giving a much different account of what was happening at the negotiating table. They tell us that the reason our government walked away from a very good deal was because the Liberals needed a boost in the polls for the upcoming bi-elections. The Liberals need a boogie man in order to divert attention away from their terrible “leadership” of this nation over the past eleven years. They are liars and want to maintain control of this land so they can continue to fatten their own coffers at the expense of the working person.
It is interesting to observe that people are willing to believe a man who cannot tell the truth and is willing to spit in the face of a nation that has carried us for years and will still carry us in the future. What is more interesting is that people will believe in politicians who in general do not know how to tell the truth, but they refuse to believe in the God Who never lies. He has given us a book — the Bible. He chose holy men to write down His exact words. Then He has guarded His Word since He gave it. He has preserved it in spite of a multitude of attacks against it. Nations have tried to destroy God’s Word. The devil has used a tactic that has proven to be very effective over the years. He has come out with a multiplicity of perversions of God’s Word which are very pleasing to the ears of lost people.
Israel was guilty of abandoning God for false gods. The pagan nations had their false gods. They were all just the imagination of some people that managed to gain the trust of gullible people. In Canada we have enough gullible people who will choose a religious social club on Sunday and they will get excited by the performers who stand at the front with their instruments. Then they will listen to the jokes and stories of a person who has managed to connive his or her way into the limelight. As our opening verses state, the people love to have it so. When people reject the only body of Truth there is, they will fall for any number of lies.
God did not design man to be his own arbiter of truth. God is Truth. He gave us His Word which is Truth. The only way we can know the Truth is if we will humble ourselves and submit to His Truth. That is offensive to the natural man. It goes against the lies of the devil.
It is important to remember that regardless of how many lies a person chooses to believe, in the end each person will stand before He Who declared:
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
The merciful and true God gave man a free will. He gave man a clean heart to begin with. He gave man all the law he needed to make wise choices. Adam chose to throw that all away. He chose to ignore the truth and chose to believe a lie that had deceived his wife. The result was disaster for him and his wife and all of creation. All of creation is groaning, waiting for the redemption that only God can provide. Even though most people are groaning under this weight, few are willing to turn to the true God Who through His Son declared:
Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Canada as a nation will fall someday. I do not know the day, but God does. The U.S. will fall as well. Both nations have chosen to reject God and no nation, nor people can stand before the True and Holy God when they reject Him. They will be judged and cast into the lake of fire.
It is time for people to wake up. Don’t put your trust in a government that is deceptive and greedy. Put your trust in God Who is Love and Just and many other good qualities. There is no flaw in the true God. Those who trust in Him will never be ashamed. Those who put their trust in man will be ashamed.
