Hope In A Troubled World

Hope In A Troubled World

Psalm 121:1  I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2  My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
3  He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4  Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

Another year is coming to a close. It has been another interesting year. We have witnessed things that we never would have dreamed possible. We have seen a further decline in civility in our governments and in our streets. Crime is still on the increase. Poverty is also increasing. Governments have talked for years that they know how to take people off poverty. They have boasted of housing programs and help for those on drugs and with mental health issues. Yet every year there are more homeless people and more people abusing drugs and dying from drug overdoses. We have seen more and more people claiming mental health issues and finding no help.
Our government appointed health “expert” and others have pleaded with health officials to take extra shifts during the holidays to deal with the health needs of society. These are the same people that told doctors and nurses they could not work unless they get the poison shots. Some refused to take them and were fired. Others took them and died from them or were injured so severely by them that they cannot work. Now the officials are begging for health care workers but they refuse to admit they caused this problem. We continue to be lied to that the shots are safe and those who are dying are dying from other things. Interesting how the narrative changed. In the early stages of the evil experiment everyone that was getting sick had the virus. Nobody got the flu or a cold. All that died, died from the virus. Yet now people are dying of everything but the shots.
In spite of all the negative things we could look at, there is still Good News. The Good News is that there is still a God Who is in charge. The Psalmist was directed by God to speak of where he would look for help. We need to be reminded of this as well. There was a petition signed by over 350,000 people that will be presented to someone once Parliament resumes its gong show. This petition is stating that Canadians have lost confidence in the current government and we need a new election now. The hope is that this petition will bring a vote of confidence to the house.
I wrote to a man recently about our political system in this country. A change of government would not change anything in this country. The Conservatives protect the murder of unborn children just like the Liberals do. They also protect the sodomites just like the Liberals do. They also believe the lie of climate change with a slightly different approach. Our help is not in government and it is not in a change of government. We just had a change of government in our province, and we can rest assured that nothing good will come from that. They are already backtracking on their promises. Those with their eyes open knew this would be the case. We have been down this road many times already.
However, when we look to the hills where the LORD is, we will find help. The LORD created man. He created man for His glory. He created man with intelligence. He created man with a free will. He also created man to understand that he is responsible for his actions. Man can try to hide behind mental problems, but he is accountable to God. There are people with a wide range of mental capacity today. Some of the damage that has been done to people is the result of bad choices by parents. Some of it is due to injections that should never have been given. There were people with a weakened mental capacity in Bible times. Some of it is due to spiritual choices.
The fact is that even people with limited mental capacity need to be taught the truth. They need to know Who is in charge. Jesus took a child and declared that we need to become like a little child in order to enter heaven. There are adults with limited mental capacity who behave like little children. They can still be taught the truth and they can still be taught to trust in the true God. Many times adults focus on the secular rather than on the spiritual. We look for distractions rather than that which has traction.
The Psalmist used “I will” in the right sense. We need to use the mental capacity we have been given to look to God. Adults need to put the truth before their children on a daily basis. For those who have chosen day care and public schools for your children, please wake up. If you are a saved parent you have the responsibility and the capacity to teach your child(ren). No one can teach them better than you can. God gave them to you. If you believe you lack some skills, get into a good church that can help you to develop those skills. Your children need a right foundation. They will never get that in the public school.
God is our help. He made heaven and earth. Since He made heaven and earth, He can look after the needs of those who live on this earth.
God does not sit back and just allow the foot of His people to be moved. He has given us His Word. His Word is what we need. We do not not need psychologists. We do not need spin doctors. We need the truth. God is never asleep or dozing. We can call upon Him at any time. He is always there to help His children.
In verse 4 the Psalmist related this to Israel. We look at Israel today and we see a mess. We see a nation at war. However, what we need to remember is that Israel was a nation chosen by God in the days of Abraham. Jacob’s name was changed to Israel. God proved that He is well able to keep His children safe. He led Jacob and his descendants into the land that He promised to Abraham. Israel is in part of that land today. Some unlearned people claim that Israel is occupying that land. They claim that others had that land prior to 1948 and that Israel did not exist in a land prior to that time.
It is true that others did live in that land prior to Israel’s possession of it. However, that change took place many years ago in Old Testament times. God listed the names of the nations that occupied that land prior to His giving it to Israel. He commanded Israel to drive the inhabitants of that land out. He commanded Israel not to learn the way of the heathen. It did not take long for Israel to disregard God’s clear command and they began to learn the way of the heathen. They suffered due to that rebellion against God.
Today, Israel is back in part of their land, and they will not be destroyed. Other nations have been wiped out, but Israel still exists. Israel is fighting a massive battle right now and they have the armaments and the skills to fight. This is because God is keeping Israel. He will not allow them to be destroyed. He wants them to be saved. He still has His remnant among the Jews and one day the nation will turn to Him in repentance.
God is not asleep. He knows exactly what is happening in Israel now. He could stop all the trouble in a moment. He is not the problem. He did not start the problems. He provided Israel with His law. He gave them prophets who spoke the truth. He set up the priesthood and gave them the instructions for proper worship of Him. Israel has ignored that for centuries. As mentioned there are a few Jews who know the fear of the LORD. They are few in number. Their number will increase.
It is important for Gentiles to turn to God as well. There are a few Gentiles that walk in the fear of the LORD. Those who know the LORD need to look to Him for help. He is our only help. We can trust Him.
As we come to the end of this year, we need to be encouraged in God’s grace and goodness to us. We need to be encouraged to make sure we are trusting in Him and that we are also walking with Him. We need to encourage others to do the same.
