Protect Your Heart

Proverbs 4:21  Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
22  For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
23  Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
24  Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
25  Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
26  Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
27  Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

Our eyes can see many things. Some people like to look at flowers. We like flowers. We have flower gardens. We only have a few months of weather that allows flowers to grow outside.
God tells us that His wisdom is worth more than anything else. Our eyes should be focused on His wisdom. Everything else should be secondary. We have noticed already that our country is in big trouble. Our politicians do not know how to make good policy. They want to shut down the ability to speak the truth. The only truth they accept is what they believe. The problem is that those who have their eyes open, know that our politicians do not know how to tell the truth. Most politicians already have a seared conscience, and they say things they hope will get them elected.
We have no politicians who care about the murder of unborn children. They are content to allow women and their doctors and nurses to murder babies without any restrictions. We also have doctors and nurses encouraging people to ask them to kill them because they think they are dying of something they fear, or they have mental health issues. There is no uprising on this in Parliament. Of course it is summer time now and the politicians are still collecting their exorbitant pay checks without doing anything to help the country. Having barbecues and town halls are a waste of time. Some people feel better if they can vent. They think they really accomplish something when they talk to a politician. The politicians get elected by doing surveys and then developing a platform based on what they think will get them elected. I do not know of any politician who speaks with godly convictions. None is concerned about the moral decline of our nation.
God tells us that His wisdom is life to those that find them. They are health to all their flesh. The person who is truly saved and trusting in the Lord, does not need to worry about life. There are major challenges in this country right now. Almost every day we hear of some corruption that is being exposed or of some policy plans that are destructive to our country. These things are real; however, the true child of God does not allow these things to tear them apart.
There are many false teachers today. God knows this better than we do. We need to listen to Him and we need to keep our hearts with all diligence. We need to keep our hearts focused on truth if we are saved. The lost person’s heart is corrupted already.

Jeremiah 17:9  The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
10  I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

Some of the worst advice a person can take is to follow their heart. The first thing is to have God give you a clean heart. Then you can receive His Word. We keep our hearts when we submit to God’s Word daily and moment by moment. There are thousands of voices out there with suggestions. There are advertisements that offer “great things”. That stuff is all ‘pie in the sky’ stuff. God’s Word is truth. We need to see the value of it.
When our heart is right with God, the issues of life are there. When our heart is right with God we will speak truth. We will not put our finger to the wind and see which way it is blowing before we speak or act. That was true during the Wuhan virus debacle, and it is true with the “climate change” junk being promoted. Sadly, the facts are often much different than the lies being promoted. This is a problem in government, but it is also a problem in most religious organizations. That is why we need God’s Word. That is why God’s wisdom should be more precious than anything else.
In verse 26 we see the importance of making sure we set out feet on solid ground. If you build your life on the perversions and the multitude of spin doctors you will never make wise choices. We need to have our ways established.
In Matthew 7 Jesus talked of building on the “rock” rather than the sand. The Rock is Jesus Christ. The sand is the world. The sand is always shifting. The storms of life will erode the sand, but they cannot move the Rock.
In verse 27 we are commanded not to turn to the right hand nor to the left. We need to get on the narrow way and get our foot out of evil. Every day is another opportunity for the true child of God to ask God to direct him in the right way.
When we choose the right way, we will be blessed. We will have joy and peace.
