Proverbs 8:6 Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.
7 For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.
9 They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.
Our ears are very precious organs. Sometimes we do not appreciate them as we should. If we do not protect them, we can cause permanent damage to them.
No one will ever damage their ears by listening to God. His Word is precious. The sad fact is that most people never realize that. They take offence to God’s Word rather than submitting to it. We mentioned a few days ago that our government has decreed that the army chaplains cannot talk about God any longer. They can talk about allah or buddha or any other false god, but not the true God. Just as during the Wuhan virus debacle, the chaplains will bow to the wicked dictates of the government. They might as well cancel out the entire chaplain program if they do not want to hear about God. The few army personnel we have are in extreme danger if they are told to reject God but they can adopt any of the pagan gods that our country is accepting. Allah cannot help anyone. The followers of Islam are all headed for hell and then to the lake of fire. The same goes for those who are trusting in Mary.
Isaiah 42:8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
God’s wisdom, which is part of His being, will speak excellent things. The opening of God’s lips shall be right things. There is no doubt about that. You will never find a lie from God in the Bible. There are warnings given. Those too are excellent and right things because they show us the need to listen to God so that we can avoid the judgment of hell.
When a farmer buys a grain auger, it comes with warning stickers at important places. Those stickers are not the enemy of the farmer. They are his friend. If he does not pay attention to the message on those stickers he will be in big trouble. He could get electrocuted or he could get his hand or foot caught in the flighting, etc. God’s Word is of much greater importance than those stickers on an auger.
In verse 7 we are reminded that God’s mouth shall speak truth. Wickedness is hated by God. No lie has ever crossed His lips. Jesus Christ never lied. Every Word of God is pure. We should all be reading and re-reading the book of Proverbs over and over again. There is so much wisdom in just that one book. But God has given us 65 books beside this one. They are packed with His wisdom.
In verse 8 we read that God’s Words are righteous Words. The Hebrew word translated as “froward” means “twisted”. The Hebrew word translated as “perverse” means “distorted or crooked”. Of course that is only true if we actually take God’s Word. In the English speaking world that is the King James Bible. If you insist on using any one of the perversions, you cannot describe them in those terms. The translators of the perversions are froward and perverse. They intended to encourage readers to follow them in their deception. In their forward they lie about their intent. Gullible readers will accept those lies. God will never lie to anyone.
In verse 9 we read that God’s Words are plain to him that understandeth. We know the only one that can understand God’s Word is the person who is born again. The lost person can understand his or her need to be saved. They can understand that without trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ alone for salvation, they will end up in hell. Sadly, too many people reject that fact and they follow their corrupt feelings rather than the truth. God’s Word will bring conviction to the heart. It will reveal what is truly going on. It is better to hear the truth now and deal with it, rather than wait until after death when there is no help.
I can praise God for His Word because I have been granted knowledge by Him.
Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
I have been told I am ignorant. I have been told that I have a wrong understanding of God’s Word. Those that make those accusations cannot defend their position from the Bible. They do not want to use the Bible. They want to argue from “the church fathers” or some other fallible testimony. God’s Word is sure. Trust in Him and you will never go wrong.
You notice in our verses today, God used the word “shall” several times. There is no questioning His Word. There is no reason to doubt what He says. It is a great blessing to be able to settle on the Truth rather than the imaginations of men.
