Exodus 32:21 And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?
22 And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief.
23 For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
24 And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.
We have mentioned several times that Canada is on a sharp downward trajectory. There is no way up from where we are currently at.
From the time that Mr. Carney projected himself as the only person who could deal with Mr. Trump, he has been making a fool of himself. He has huge investments in different places. He is only interested in making sure he does not lose money.
Mr. Carney does not understand that when he dies he will not take one cent of what he has with him. He likely has a will and he has assigned his assets to certain people. They may think they have hit the jackpot when they get whatever their share will be. However, they too are ignorant and not aware of the fact that they will not take one cent with them when they die.
Fools cannot reason well. Mr. Carney has had several high ranking positions in the financial sector. Wherever he has been he has made a mess of things. He has had the benefit of having people around him who could spin a good yarn and make it look like the problems were never of his making.
Since he has been in his current position he has had the liberal media in his back pocket. He has been paying them well with our money. It has not cost him a cent. Greedy people are always willing to buy things with other people’s money.
Today is a new day in Canada. Mr Trump declared that August 19 would be a deadline for a deal more favourable to what he likes and if not, Canada would suffer the consequences. He made that promise about a month ago. Mr. Carney knew about that matter. However, he chose to take a vacation in Italy while the clock was ticking. He assumed that he could just let this thing slide and it would work for his benefit.
At this point, we do not know if anything good has come from the past few days of negotiations by our hopeless “advocates” in this matter. Apparently Mr. Trump has extended talks for three more days.
It is important for us to know that Mr. Trump is not the problem. He is the president of the U.S. The U.S. is one of the more powerful nations in the world. It has been that way for many years. Of course that power is all resting in earthly treasure. The United States has the words “In God We Trust” written on its money, but the fact is that the United States does not trust in God any more than Canada does. The United States is by far more powerful and wealthy than Canada is. Canada has tried to take advantage of the U.S. for a long time. It has been a convenient situation due to the close proximity of the two nations.
Now Mr. Trump wants to protect his country’s interests and he wants to try to clean up some of the debt that previous regimes have accumulated. He does not have enough time, nor is there enough money to fix the financial hole that the U.S. is in. However, he is going to try.
Canada should realize the need to turn to God. That would have been good long ago. It is not too late for people to repent toward God and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for forgiveness and salvation. The problem is with the sinful nature of man.
When a person digs a deep hole, he cannot see his way out. If he refuses to hear what God has to say, there is no way out. Things can only get worse. It is like the person who falls into quicksand. The more he struggles the further down he goes. It is also like the person who falls into a bin of canola or flax. You cannot get out by self determination. You will drown in a thing of monetary value, but a worthless thing when a person gets caught drowning in it.
Since the fall of man, it is a common reflex of man to blame others for his own problems. Pride keeps the person from admitting failure. Unless a person is willing to admit failure, there is no hope. If a person does not want to admit they were wrong, they will not receive correction.
Adam blamed God and his wife, whom God had given him, for his problem. He did not even want to admit he had sinned. Cain did not want to deal with his sin either. He became angry with his brother and eventually murdered him. He refused to accept correction from the God of creation.
In our text, Aaron tried to wiggle out from under his responsibility. The people had their guilt, but he was left in charge while Moses went to meet with God. He could have encouraged the people in the LORD, but chose to lead them further into idolatry.
This week my wife and I were in Winnipeg for an appointment. At a stop light, there was a high top van beside us and just a little ahead of us. His entire backend was covered with a picture of Mr. Trump and then the reasons why he is to blame for the mess that Canada is in.
Those who want to blame Mr. Trump are giving him far too much credit. He is not that good of a man. He has been bankrupt a couple of times, himself. He has been married three times. Who knows how many affairs he has been involved in. He wrote a book about the art of the deal, but that is just his opinion of how to get things done. He has made his mark in society, for sure. He has not left his children anything worth following after.
The people of Canada would be wise to look in the mirror. Canada prides itself in being a democracy. At best it is a pseudo democracy. In reality it is a soft dictatorship, moving to a more firm dictatorship. Who cheered when our current P.M. took his place at the head of this nation? Who supported the failed attempt of the Conservative party to take control of the government? Do you suppose we would be in any better place with them leading us?
What is missing is the fact that there is a God in heaven to whom man must answer. He is far more concerned with the spiritual well-being of man, than He is about the financial matters of life.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
God is love. He is also just. He wants to see people get saved and serve Him. All of humanity would be wise to understand the need to know the true God. Making excuses for sin does not help. Acting like grown-ups and trusting in the true God is the cure for man’s need.
